Gerald O’Toole

This book is one woman’s intimate account of her battle (war) with cancer. Yet, it is much more than this. It is a tale, beautifully written, of compassion, of hope, of faith, and ultimately, of love. Ms. Moore, by the way, is also a very funny lady.

At the heart of the book is her love for Jesus, who sustained her during the darkest of nights…and gave comfort as her body was betraying her. Scripture abounds though the book, though Ms. Moore is never proselytizing; she is simply sharing words of wisdom…words that provided strength and insight as she fought this dreaded disease.

The author writes movingly of her caregivers: her nurses and doctors, of course. Her husband Tim, absolutely. But also of the stranger in the hall who was quick with a smile…or held open the door…or gave a hug. We are all caregivers. We are all prone to trials and misfortune. We all need to be kind to one another. Ms. Moore never despairs during her ordeal…never loses hope that her God will provide for her. Often times, she quietly says, “Jesus, help me.” Love and Prayer as the ultimate healing agents… Ms. Moore has nailed it.

I highly recommend this book.
